Where can I do yoga or meditate in Bali?
Checked October 2026 · 2 sources
Ubud is the main place for yoga and meditation in Bali, with large studios such as The Yoga Barn and Radiantly Alive offering several drop-in classes a day, sound healing and teacher trainings. Canggu and Uluwatu have many beach-side studios, and the Bali Spirit Festival in Ubud brings yoga, music and workshops together each year.
In detail
In Ubud, you can join a class almost any hour of the day, from gentle hatha and yin to vinyasa, kundalini and ecstatic dance. Many studios also offer meditation, breathwork and sound baths in the evening.
Canggu has a dense choice of modern studios close to the beach and cafés, popular with remote workers who fit a class before or after work. Uluwatu's studios are more spread out, often with ocean views from the clifftops.
For a more traditional experience, a melukat water purification ritual at a temple such as Tirta Empul is a Balinese spiritual practice rather than a yoga class. Go with a local guide, wear a sarong and follow the priests' instructions.
Quiet walks also make good moving meditation: the Campuhan Ridge Walk in Ubud at sunrise, or the rice fields around Sidemen and Jatiluwih.
Good to know
- Check each studio's weekly schedule online or in its app; prices and times change.
- Buy a class pack if you stay a week or more; it lowers the price per class.
- Bring your own mat if you plan to practise daily.
