How much is the visa on arrival and can I extend it?

Short answer

The Indonesian visa on arrival costs IDR 500,000 (about USD 30) and allows 30 days. You can extend it once for another 30 days, for a maximum of 60 days, by applying online and paying a further IDR 500,000 before your first 30 days end.

In detail

The same IDR 500,000 fee applies to the e-VOA bought online and the VOA bought at Bali airport. The online version adds a small processing charge. Bali airport accepts cards, but carrying cash in rupiah is a sensible backup.

Extensions are requested on evisa.imigrasi.go.id or at an immigration office. The first extension usually involves a short office visit for biometrics, and the new visa arrives by email within a few working days.

Start the extension at least 10 to 14 days before your visa expires. Overstaying costs IDR 1,000,000 per day and can lead to deportation.

Good to know

  • Note your exact expiry date: day 1 is your arrival day.
  • If you already know you want 60 days or more, a C1 visa may be simpler.
