What is the Bali tourist tax and how do I pay it?
Checked October 2026 · 3 sources
Bali charges international tourists a one-time levy of IDR 150,000 (about USD 9) per person, per visit. It is separate from your visa. The easiest way to pay is online through the official Love Bali website or app before you travel. You then receive a QR voucher by email.
In detail
Payment is cashless only. Love Bali accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, UnionPay, bank transfer, virtual account and QRIS. Counters at Bali airport and seaports, plus some registered hotels and attractions, also take payment.
The levy is paid once per trip, before you leave Indonesia. Children pay too. Cruise passengers can pay as a group through a registered cruise agent.
Exempt groups include KITAS and KITAP holders, diplomatic and official visa holders, transport crew, student visa holders and family unification visa holders. Some exempt categories must still register through Love Bali.
Good to know
- Pay only on lovebali.baliprov.go.id or the official app to avoid copycat sites.
- Keep the QR voucher on your phone; checks happen at the airport and some attractions.
