Where can I find a villa for a family reunion in Bali?

Checked October 2026 · 2 sources

Short answer

For a family reunion, Sanur, Nusa Dua and Jimbaran are the easiest areas: flat streets, calm beaches and short drives to the airport and the main hospitals in the south. Choose a villa with ground-floor bedrooms and few steps for older relatives, a fenced or gated pool for young children, and a dining table that seats everyone together.

In detail

Many Balinese villas are built on slopes or around open courtyards, with steps, stepping stones and open-air bathrooms. Ask for photos of the routes from the bedrooms to the pool and dining area, and whether at least one bedroom has a walk-in shower.

For children, check pool depth, fencing or a safety cover and gate locks. Villas can usually arrange cots, high chairs and babysitters, but child seats must be requested when booking transfers, as they are not standard.

July and August and the Christmas and New Year period are the busiest times for large villas, so book well ahead for those dates. Choose a base that limits driving for elderly relatives: Ubud is worth a day trip, but its roads are steep and traffic is heavy.

Travel insurance matters for every generation, and relatives with a medical condition should check with their doctor before travelling. Rabies is present in Bali, so any dog or monkey bite or scratch needs urgent care.
