What is the time difference with Bali and how do I handle jet lag?
Checked October 2026 · 2 sources
Bali runs on Central Indonesian Time (WITA, UTC+8) all year, with no daylight saving. It is 6 hours ahead of France during French summer time (late March to late October) and 7 hours ahead in winter. Flights from Paris take around 16 to 20 hours with a stop, so plan a gentle first day.
In detail
When it is noon in Paris in July, it is 6 pm in Bali; in January, it is 7 pm. The change happens on the last Sunday of March and the last Sunday of October, when only France moves its clocks.
Flying east is usually harder on the body. Get daylight in the morning after you arrive, for example a walk on Sanur or Jimbaran beach, and avoid long naps. Being near the equator, Bali has sunrise around 6 am and sunset around 6 to 6:30 pm all year, which helps reset your clock.
On the way back, the jet lag is often lighter. Avoid booking an early morning flight after a late night, and drink plenty of water on board.
For remote work with France, Bali's late afternoon and evening overlap with the French morning. A 3 pm meeting in Paris in summer falls at 9 pm in Bali.
Good to know
- Switch your watch to Bali time when you board.
- Book a calm first day, such as a spa or a beach, rather than a long excursion.
- Keep a world clock with Paris and Bali on your phone.
