Sekumpul Waterfall

Up to seven streams fall about 80 m into a jungle amphitheatre. Widely ranked as Bali's most dramatic waterfall.

Itinerary

  1. Getting there

    By car or scooter: Ubud approx. 135 min · Canggu approx. 165 min · Seminyak approx. 160 min. Head for Sekumpul, Sawan.

  2. Ticket & parking

    IDR 125,000 per adult. Local guide mandatory to reach the base: medium trek 125,000–150,000 (Sekumpul + Hidden Falls). Lookout only about 20,000. Long trek with Fiji Falls 200,000–250,000. Pay only at the official entrance; fake roadside checkpoints exist.

  3. The walk · Hard

    Paved path to the lookout (20–30 min), then about 300–340 steep steps into the valley and shallow river crossings. Climb back 30–40 min. Allow 2–4 hours.

  4. At the falls

    Paddling pool at Hidden Falls. At the base of Sekumpul the spray and current are strong: ask your guide.

  5. Then

    Continue with Fiji Waterfall (Lemukih), Gitgit Waterfall, Lovina Beach.

Best time

08:00 to beat tour groups. Strongest flow Feb–Apr; easier, drier trails May–Sep.

Good to know

  • Ignore unofficial 'ticket' stops and pay at the official start point.
  • Wear grippy shoes that can get wet and pack a dry bag.
  • Bring cash for the ticket, a tip for the guide and a drink on the way up.
