Excluding flights, a day in Bali costs roughly USD 25 to 40 on a backpacker budget, USD 70 to 150 mid-range, and USD 300 or more for luxury travel. Local warung meals cost USD 2 to 5, and a scooter is about USD 5 to 7 a day. Add the one-time visa and tourist levy.
In detail
Budget travellers stay in hostels or homestays under USD 20 a night, eat at warungs and get around by scooter or ride-hailing apps.
Mid-range travellers book boutique hotels or private villas, eat at cafes at USD 10 to 20 a meal, hire a driver for day trips and pay entry fees to waterfalls and temples.
Fixed costs per trip: IDR 500,000 for the visa on arrival and IDR 150,000 for the Bali levy. Prices are highest in Seminyak, Canggu and Uluwatu, and during July, August and Christmas.
