When is the best time to visit Bali?
Checked October 2026 · 3 sources
The best time to visit Bali is during the dry season, from April to October, when skies are clearer and humidity is lower. April, May and September are often the sweet spot: dry weather, fewer crowds and better prices than the July and August peak.
In detail
Bali has two seasons. The dry season runs roughly April to October and the wet season roughly November to March. Temperatures stay warm all year, usually around 26 to 30°C, so the main difference is rain and humidity rather than heat.
June to August is the busiest period, with school holidays in Europe and Australia pushing up villa and hotel prices, especially in Canggu, Seminyak and Uluwatu. The Christmas and New Year fortnight is also very busy despite the rain.
January to March brings the fewest visitors and the lowest rates, with lush rice terraces and full waterfalls. Expect heavy showers, more humidity and some rough seas for boat trips to the Nusa islands.
Check the Balinese calendar before booking. Nyepi, the Day of Silence, closes the whole island for 24 hours each March, and major temple festivals can affect traffic and opening hours.
Good to know
- Book June to August and late December stays well in advance.
- Pick April, May or September for the best mix of weather and value.
- Check the Nyepi date if travelling in March.
