Pinggan Village

Pinggan is a small farming village at nearly 1,300 metres altitude in Kintamani, Bangli, known for its sunrise viewpoint. On clear mornings a sea of mist fills the valleys below, and as the sun rises Mount Batur, Lake Batur and the surrounding peaks emerge above the clouds, without having to climb the volcano.

Arrive between 5 and 6am to find a spot and watch the mist and colours change. It is cold at dawn, so bring a warm jacket. The dry season, roughly August to November, gives the clearest sunrises, though fog can hide the view on any day. The village is calm and residential, so be discreet when walking through. Plan 1 to 2 hours, then continue to the Toya Bungkah hot springs.
