8 Cabins
Our goal when building Wunderpus in 2014 was to provide our guests with the feeling of comfort and space that we felt was missing on many boats. We also wanted all travelers joining our adventures to be assured of excellent service and personal attention. For this reason we limit the number of guests onboard to 8 and use all the available space to create luxurious, relaxing areas where you can take time between dives to enjoy the surrounding beauty, read a book or take a nap before your next adventure.
Accommodation on Wunderpus consists of 2 double cabins with queen size beds, and 2 double-twin cabins with a queen size bed and a single bunk. All 4 cabins are equipped with AC and fan, ensuite bathrooms with hot water, and hairdryer. We also provide you with our 100% biodegradable reef-safe shampoo and soap.
Wunderpus has two upper decks for relaxing with comfortable sunbeds for the time between dives; one is shaded and the other is uncovered so you can work on your tan or look up at the stars at night. For your comfort we have installed moorings in calm, secluded locations throughout the National Park so you can get a comfortable night’s sleep ready for another day of adventure.
Our chef will prepare 4 delicious meals per day for you to enjoy. These consist of a hearty European/American breakfast, and a mix of Indonesian/Asian influenced dishes and European favorites for lunch and dinner. Plenty of fresh fruit and salads are always on the menu, with an extra tasty snack in the afternoon.
We try to eat our meals on the main deck dining table whenever the weather allows. From here you can enjoy the spectacular beauty of your surroundings during the day or dine under the stars at night. If the weather changes then we also have an indoor air-conditioned salon for dining.
Wunderpus is traditionally-built from Ironwood and Indonesian Teak. At 25 meters long and 4.8 meters wide she is very comfortable for the small groups of maximum 8 guests onboard.
With a cruising speed of 7-9 knots powered by a 6-cylinder turbocharged engine which is maintained by our onboard engineer, Wunderpus can carry you fast and in comfort to some of the best diving on the planet.
We carry 6 tones of fresh water onboard for washing and 4 tones of fuel to power our main engine and generators. Our two 40KVH diesel generators are more than powerful enough to run our onboard Bauer PE200 compressor and all the air-conditioning, lights and charging points that are available in both public areas and in each of our 4 cabins for your charging convenience. We also have a powerful battery bank and inverter system which allows us, when possible, to run the fans in the cabins as ventilation/cooling, lights and refrigeration onboard silently so that you can sleep peacefully with just the sounds of the lapping of the waves.
We take safety very seriously and all of our dive equipment is regularly serviced, and comes from reputable brands such as Mares, Aqua Lung and Apeks. We also limit group sizes to maximum 4 divers per group (often less), and dive sites are carefully chosen to suit each divers ability.
On each trip there are a minimum of two crew members with EFR training for emergencies, and Wunderpus is equipped with modern safety equipment.
All our dive staff have thousands of dives in Komodo under their belts and know Komodo and its currents very well, so regardless of your experience level you can be sure that we will choose dive sites and times suitable for your experience level.
Itineraries for each trip vary depending on local tides and conditions, the seasonal changes that affect Komodo, and of course to avoid the crowds. We always try to dive the popular sites outside the times when day trip boats are around. We want to see fish, not divers, right?!
You can rest assured that we will try to show you the best diving Komodo has to offer, whatever the season, in the safest conditions.
